Summary
NM03384490 This site, identified by RCAHMS (1980.no 248) is located off the E shore of Loch na Buaile 65 m from the present N end. The island is artificial and accessed by a causeway 10 m in length of large well-rounded boulders. The causeway is 3.4 m wide at its base and provides a 1.5 m wide level walkway which is 0.5 m above the surrounding loch bed.
The artificial island is a circular, turf-covered mound which, measures 15.1 by 15.9 m at its base and is crowned by the remains of an oval 6.2 by 8.6 m structure. This structure appears to be a single ring of medium-sized boulders, which have now been turfed over. Underwater investigation revealed that the islet was comprised of small well-rounded stones.
